What Were We Thinking

Day 43: Thomas and I decided to go back to Wal-Mart today to get some more supplies. We took our ammo and bats with us and left just like we did yesterday. We went around to the back door that we left from yesterday. We spent a couple hours packing some bags when we heard gunshots. I have no idea how, but the militia found us again. They were gunning down the zombies in front of the automatic doors that didn't open anymore. I went in the back to secure all the doors back there while Thomas went to the front to keep an eye out. I got out into the main store when I heard gunshots. I knew they came from inside the store. Then I heard Thomas yelling "I dare you to try it again. Now theres only 12 of you bastards." I made it up front and another militia member was lying on the floor with a bullet in his head. We looted the body and got another handgun, an assault rifle, and some ammo. We could tell that they backed off a bit. We took advantage of the opportunity by looking for things we could use as a weapon. There was no guns or ammo, but plenty of flammable liquids. Gathered up as much as we could along with rags and bottles. After about an hour, we had several molotov cocktails. We finished just in time to see another guy run up to the door. Before he could let off a shot, Thomas lit and threw a bottle at him. The door erupted into flames, but I think he got away. All we had to do was hold them off. Its just a matter of time before a horde of zombies show up outside. I think they are already starting to arrive because I hear shots outside that are not directed towards us. Its starting to get dark and Thomas is yelling at me for writing instead of keeping an eye outside on them. I did not fight for my life during the first couple days for it to end at the hands of another survivor. I'll take them all out if I have to.

It Survived the Apocalypse

Day 42: We are out of food again. We have no other choice but to go out again. Thomas and I are not looking forward to it considering the last time we went grocery shopping, we almost didn't make it back. This time we are headed to Wal-Mart. Its only about a block away, so it shouldn't be too bad. We left in the late morning with whatever supplies we needed. We hoped we would make it back to our house. There were still large hordes of zombies everywhere, but made it to the store relatively easily. The automatic doors didn't work anymore, so we had to pry them open. We stepped inside and took a look around. After everything that happened, Wal-Mart looked the same. There were people everywhere. Well, actually they were zombies. Some of them were still wearing their blue vests and kinda wandering around. It didn't last long, though. One zombie noticed us and let out a moan. Soon every zombie in the store was headed towards us. We turned to look at each other and new what we had to do. We bashed in the skulls of the two closest zombies. We stood our ground for as long as we could and then retreated back out the door. We figured we would try to lure them all out and the run back inside and close the door. It actually worked pretty well and there were only a handful of zombies left inside. We spent a couple hours packing up as much food and supplies as we could. We found a back door that was free of zombies and high tailed it back to our house. We made it back safely with plenty of food and supplies. We might actually try it again tomorrow to get more to stock up.

Hell Breaking Loose

Day 40: One of our worst fears happened today. We woke up this morning to a loud explosion that shook the building and then we heard a voice. "Come out and surrender or else" it said. We realized that somehow the militia found us and apparently we did kill one of them. Thats what the voice of the leader said anyways. If we didn't surrender, they would "burn the building down and let the undead dead feast on our charred remains." Thomas and I discussed our opions. We both agreed that we had to get out of there. Before we could do anything, another explosion rocked the building. A few minutes later, there were the sounds of the undead at our door leading to the stairs. Time had run out. Thomas, scared to death, ran to the window and took a shot at one of the militia members. I pulled him away just before the window was shattered by a machine gun. Thomas said he killed another one, though. It was still 13 to 2. I didn't like our odds. We couldn't take them on. By the sound of it, they had the firepower to level the building without stepping foot in it. We ran to the other side of the building to see if there was any chance we could jump somewhere when more gunfire came flying in our direction. They had the building surrounded. We were totally screwed!

Not much later, we could still hear gunfire, but it wasn't directed at us anymore. I peaked out the window and couldn't believe what a saw. All the excitment attracted what looked like all the zombies in town. The militia was fighting for their lives and now was our chance. We quickly packed up all our supplies and fought through the crowd right outside our stairwell door and went down to the first floor. We made our way to the back door with Eeyore right behind us. We quietly opened the door and sprinted away. One of the militia spotted us and fired a couple rounds in our direction. The zombies were a bigger threat to his life, so he returned his attention on them. We ran as far as we could and made it to a house about a block away from a Wal-Mart. The house was clear of zombies and we were hidden. We were safe for the time being.

No Food

Day 39: Today, Thomas and I were all out of food. We had to make a run to the store, but there were still zombies everywhere and we didn't know if the militia was still out there. We had no other options, though. We pack as much ammo as we could and both grabbed a bat. I left a pile of food for Eeyore and we headed out. We made it to the store alright, leaving a trail of dead zombies behind us. The store was swarming with them as well. We took out a majority of them before we started gathering food. We were able to get a backpack filled when all of a sudden automatic gunfire erupted. The militia must still be here and tracked us here. We ran for cover as fast as we could, which there was very little of it. The entire front of the store is all glass windows, so those lasted about 2 seconds. I remembered about the rear exit and we started to make our way in that direction. At least now, there were hardly any zombies left in the store due to the gunfire. We made it out just as the militia was entering. Thomas and I took a couple shots at them and might of hit one. We didn't stick around to find out, though. We took off and headed towards the nearest block of buildings. We managed to lose them when we went through several of them. Eventually we made it back to our office building. We only got enough food to last a couple of days. We're going to have to out again soon and be more careful.
