April 25, 2013: Day 32

Its been a month now since the outbreak. Boy what a difference in the world. I made another food run to the supermarket a couple days ago to stock back up. I only had a few minutes before attracting unwanted attention, but I made it out without incident. On the way back, though, I saw a pickup truck driving a few blocks away. I ducked inbetween some houses, hoping they didn't see me. There are two people in the truck at least, one driving obviously and there was one in the truck bed. I could tell the person in the back had an assault rifle, but thats about it. I have not gone out since then. Hopefully I stay safe and trouble free.

April 18, 2013: Day 25

I heard more shots today. I think they were from an assault rifle too. Some one out there has a major advantage. The troubling part is that I don't know if they are friendly or not and how many there are. I could have sworn I heard some sort of vehicle driving around as well. Maybe its the same person or people. It probably is. I have just been laying low the past few days. I have not even gone out to get rid of the few zombies around the outside of the house. The last thing I want is someone to notice the dead zombies and figure out that there is a survivor in the area. Its a very different world out there now. Not everyone can be trusted. They may want what I have and with no cops to stop them, they will take. I can't see what I would have that others would want, though. I have enough food for another week and just rudimentary weapons. With no laws or threat of punishment, you really find out what people are like.

April 12, 2013: Day 19

Well, I decided on a name for my new friend. I calling him Captain or Cap after Captain America. I was always a big comic book fan and this dog must have been pretty tough to survive out there, just like Captain America. Other than that, we have just been sitting tight in our new home. I have been trying to keep a low profile so that I don't attract too many zombies. I have started to sneak out and take out the closet zombie or two. Mainly just to get used to killing them as sick as that sounds. I'm starting to realize that I'm going to have to do many things I would not even think of doing before the world went to shit. But I going to have to do what I have to in order to survive. I could have sworn I heard gunshots earlier today. That could mean survivors, but not all survivors are going to be friendly. I'm going to have to be careful. Still, the idea of others out is means there still could be hope.

April 9, 2013: Day 16

A lot has happened the past few days. First of all, on the 6th, I made a run to the supermarket. I managed to dodge zombies on the way there to arrive safely. The supermarket was fairly free of zombies. There were about three in the store. This not a huge supermarket, though. I ran in and filled my backpack with various canned goods. I figured those would keep the longest. It seemed like I only spent a matter of minutes in the store, but by the time I went back up to the front exit, the parking lot was filling up. I attracted too much attention. There was probably about 50 zombies out front. I headed towards the back to try to exit through the warehouse, but two zombies blocked that path too. I had to improvise. I shove a cart through one of the front windows and shattered it. I pick the one with the clearest path and ran through. As soon as I made it out, I just ran. I made it a couple blocks before I realized I was running away from my apartment. There was no way I could make it back there. I ran a few more blocks and saw a small ranch style house. I tried the door and thank goodness it was unlock. I ducked inside and locked the door behind me. I thought I was safe. I turned around, to find myself face to face with a zombie. I shoved it away and started to run, but tripped over a toolbox that was laying on the floor. I looked back and saw a rubber mallet that must have been in it. I leapt for it and jumped to my feet. I did the only thing I could. I brought the mallet down on the zombie's head. After the third swing, its head cave in and it dropped to the floor. There were brains everywhere. I tried to hold it together, but I couldn't I just puked there on the spot. I stayed in one of the bedrooms the rest of the night. The next morning, I looked outside and saw a handful of zombies shuffling around. I did hear a dog barking, though. I looked out for a couple more minutes and I saw it. It looked alright. I grabbed some food and went to the door. He was a little hesitant, but eventually came. I had food after all. I could not find any bites on him and looked to be fine. He looked to have some doberman in him, but I'm not sure what else. He was pretty friendly, though. We stayed in the house all day, but the smell of the zombies was getting bad. The next day, we left and found another house free of zombies. This one is a two story and has a well stocked pantry. I think we might stay here for a little while. In the mean time, I have to think of what I'm going to name my new friend. He didn't have a collar on him and I have just been saying hear boy and stuff like that. He needs something better. Especially since he is only companion right now.

April 5, 2013: Day 12

Its been almost a week since saturday. At least I'm pretty sure its friday today. The days don't really have much meaning anymore with no job, errands, bills or TV. So far there is still power, though. Not much has happened lately. I have stayed cooped up inside and am almost out of food. I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and scavange. The nearest supermarket is only five blocks away. Then again, walking five blocks is a lot different nowadays. Its a lot more dangerous. I packed a bag with some snacks, flashlight, a book just in case and a couple knives as back up weapons. My main weapon is still the golf club, though. I have to find something better. Also, I keep hearing that dog barking. I last heard it a few hours ago. Maybe I come across it tomorrow. If I do, I really hope its friendly. I'm leaving at first light to maximize my daylight hours. I'm crossing my fingers that I don't run into too much trouble.

March 30, 2013: Day 7

Its been a week since the zombie outbreak. I have not left the apartment since my last excursion a few days ago. There has not even been any sounds from other survivors. There has to be someone out there somewhere. I did hear a dog barking a few hours ago, though. The poor thing. I hope its alright. I looked outside when I heard the barking, but only saw some zombies shuffling around. I wonder if dogs are affected by whatever is causing the zombies. Lets hope not. I am running low on food, though. I ate the last of my meat for lunch today. Amazingly, there is still power. I have no idea how that works, but I'm expecting it to go off any time now. So far I've kept pretty quiet inside and avoided the unwanted attention of the zombies outside. I have just been catching up on movies and TV shows on DVD, might as well while I can. All of the TV stations are off the air now. I did hear something about a camp or something at Fort McCoy just before one of the local channel went off the air. I don't know if its an evacuation site or what. Its one possibility of where to go if I ever have to leave town.

March 27, 2013: Day 4

I got up enough courage to venture out today and killed my first zombie. I don't know if "kill" is the right word, but thats what I'm going with. It was horrible! I know it sounds bad, but I hope it get easier. I'm going to have to do what I have to survive. I have to be stronger than them. Anyway, I packed a backpack with essentials and grabbed a putter as a weapon. It looked the most deadly to me just in case. I managed to bob and weave 4 blocks from my apartment until one reached through some bushes at me. I jumped a foot in the air and just started swinging. As soon as his head made it through the bushes, my putter connected, spraying his brains all over. I turned and ran as fast as I could back home. I can't stay locked in my apartment all the time. Eventually I'm going to run out of supplies and I'm going to have to venture out. I just hope I get desensitized to putting down zombies once and for all.
